My favorite speed-runs from the second half of AGDQ 2025

Following up a few days late on that part 1!

Near the end of the week, was a "No Logic Randomizer" run of Ocarina of Time. This is a modified version of the game where every is in a random location. For a casual player, this would mean the game would usually not be possible to complete because required items will be found scattered throughout the game, and out of order, but in this case, the runner has a very sophisticated understanding of the glitches and speed tech at their disposal to that they can use to finish the game. If you have ever played this one on the N64, it's a trip to see it played this way.

Masterful platforming and Spikevegeta's commentary on his own run is always fun.

I really like seeing a long RPG like this get broken wide open.

This is "bingo lockout race" where two runners are pitted against each other and challenged to finish get bingo before the other, where each square on the board is a major objective in the game AND they share the same board.

The second half of the week happened to have a lot of runs with musical tie-ins! The first on my list here is a showcase of Elden Ring yet again, but this time its controlled by a Wind Synth, or Electric Saxophone. This is amazing, and hilarious.

Here's a run of Super Mario Bros. Wii, but it's controlled by foot and head gestures while the runner plays the game's soundtrack on a keyboard. Yes, he does both at the same time.

Finally, here's another run with live accompaniment. It's Crazy Taxi with a live band! Honestly, the most impressive part for me here is that the drummer is so locked in, he never even misses the instant transitions in and out of the level select music.

It's worth mentioning that if they didn't play this game with a live band, they likely still couldn't use the real game audio because of the game's infamous licensed soundtrack. Thanks, DMCA 🙃!
